Congratulations!

     The 66th Colorado State Spelling Bee was held Saturday, March 25, 2006, at the Colorado Convention Center.  258 students from all over the state of Colorado qualified for this event.  Of these, the top 34 spellers as determined by a morning written test qualified for the afternoon oral spelling bee.  Three of our Denver Public Schools spellers qualified for the state finals.  They were:

     Caroline Bringenberg, Hamilton Middle School (22nd place)

         Caroline spelled these words correctly:  buffalo, narrative, croquet, and laguna before she went down on mesentery.

     Victoria Segal, Morey Middle School (17th place)

         Victoria spelled these words correctly:  dismal, exterminate, prerequisite, samurai, oratorio, charismatic, and funambulist before she went down on salubrious.

     Ryan Sozi, Morey Middle School (11th place)

         Ryan spelled these words correctly:  wallop, vanilla, acoustics, ambrosia, ponerology, finial, cacography, pestilential, whilom, and parergon before he went down on pasimology
